HEADED TO NYC!!
What better place to begin this blog than in my closet? It’s one of my favorite places. It’s not the biggest or most beautiful, but it’s a place of self-expression and a sanctuary of endless possibilities. Hopefully Amour Boutique and I can help provide a new way for you to look at your own closet, bringing the old with the new!
The reason I’m starting in my closet is because this is where I put together all of the outfits I wore in NYC (with the help of Amour, of course). That’s right my friends, I just returned from the city that never sleeps, and the fashion capital of the world! I can’t wait to share all about my adventure with you!
Lets start with what I packed!
On the top, you can see a few of my favorite Amour pieces, and underneath are the essentials (scarves, shoes, jewelry, etc.). I always make sure to pack a bottle of wrinkle release spray so I don’t have to worry about pulling out the hotel iron. A couple sprays on any of these outfits, and they’re wrinkle-free and ready to be shown off. What’s in my carry-on? I thought you’d never ask. Inside my carry-on is where I keep the fashion secrets. It’s always important to bring moisturizer on flights because they can be dehydrating. I also bring at least one easy outfit in my carry-on. You never know what could happen to that checked bag. And there was no way I was only wearing one outfit for my entire trip to NYC. I packed a versatile dress from Amour in my carry-on, just in case. Since I wanted to be comfortable while traveling, I wore Amour Boutique’s All Around Perfect Dress/Slip in Mocha with a comfy scarf.
I used this piece as a dress while I travelled through the airport to make sure I wasn’t too hot and stayed comfortable and cute throughout the voyage. I can assure you, I slept like a baby ALL the way to New York, but the fact that my flight was at 5am may have contributed to that.
WELCOME TO NYC!!
You’d never guess this was my first time to the Big Apple.
The first day in NYC was crazy overwhelming, but here are a few things that I learned: Britney Murphy gave us the wrong impression. It’s a little bit harder to hail a taxi than it seemed to be in Uptown Girls. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to get good food, pizza was life. Taxi drivers don’t like to talk. People don’t move out of the way and don’t hesitate to expresses their opinions. The subway isn’t a place I’d want to flash mob. It’s dark and smells like feet. If anyone tries to sell you “sterling silver” on the street, IT’S NOT REAL.
Now that you know some things about NYC, lets get back to clothes! When I arrived in NYC, I went ahead and planned on the hotel not being ready by 10am and thought out how to embrace a full day in the city without having to go to the room and change my clothes. I did this by carrying Amour Boutique’s Stripes of Happiness Tunic and a gold and pearl necklace in my carry-on. With a quick and easy slip on, I turned my travel getup into a super cute outfit that was ready for a full day of touristy activities in the Big Apple! Side Note: Comfortable shoes are a MUST if you’re aspiring to see all of NYC in three days! A comfortable boot was perfect for me.
NYC DAY 2:
For day two, I wore Amour Boutique’s Floral Love Dress, which was perfectly paired with a fluffy infinity scarf and Amour’s Fun and Festive black hat. On my feet, I wore a pair of flat black boots with some extra comfy socks.
This outfit was perfect for frolicking around and taking touristy pictures.
To keep my suitcase light and avoid changing my whole outfit for dinner, I simply removed the scarf and hat, added a black jacket, and a pair of black booties with long socks! It was super easy to transition this dress from day to night.
For day three (another airport day), I kept my carry-on light and wore Amour’s Tie-Die For Top with a pair of cozy leggings, boots, and a beanie. This outfit was perfect for a day of shopping and for an evening flight!
One major difference I noticed in Manhattan from Auburn was that there weren’t a lot of boutiques like there are here. Most everyone shops at the brand-named stores like Free People, Urban Outfitters, Sacs Fifth Ave, etc. People would actually stop me on the street to ask me where I got my clothes and they would almost seem shocked when I didn’t say one of those big names. It made me feel grateful for what I have right here in my hometown. Amour really helps provide big city fashions with small town prices!
Even though I was only in the City for a short time, it left a huge impression. I’ve been to many places, but NYC was definitely unique. It’s absolutely beautiful and exciting but I was glad to be back in the Loveliest Village on the Plains with the loveliest people in the world.
